peel another on
tight and strong
spring in your step is jaded
intensity has faded
familiar vagueness replaces
temporary shiny spaces

each time’s the last
until it doesn’t last
despite the best attempts
they can never get past
all the layers you’ve amassed

find the strings to your knees
find the strings to your arms
find the string to your head
manipulate them
pull you out of bed
disregard that other string there
it’s only weighted with lead

just so we’re clear
doing isn’t believing
and not believing
isn’t deceiving
sometimes the heart we’re missing
isn’t the one we’re hiding
but the one we’ve stopped contriving

find the strings to your knees
find the strings to your arms
find the string to your head
manipulate them
pull you out of bed
disregard the absence of beating
cause you’re still not dead

another awesome #poetvolley with the superbly talented @artemisretreats. enjoy.

forgetting
wishing, waiting
frustrating anticipating
until it’s debilitating
no longer reciprocating

tantalizing
manipulating
manifesting the impossible

but wait, but wait, but wait
where are you going?
could this be that one thing
is it showing?

stop admiring the fight
stop longing for the struggle
stand here
breathing with me

okay
i’ll swipe, declined
swipe, declined
over limit, undermined
once was free
now charges fined

we tried
our hearts sizzling
fried shots fired
words seizing
tugging, exhausting even
our deepest desire

with all that value, my love
i believe, my love
love me, my love
go ‘round that way, my love
and hold me

love
my heart
tired after bedtime stories
too many damn sorrys
hold me, forgive me
breathe with me
hold on

remembering
accepting, staying
happily appreciating
we go on emancipating
no longer hesitating

Day 19 → What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?

i live five miles from the soil in which rests the blood of the most lives lost in US history in a single day – over 20,000 souls.

what do i think of religion & politics? i think they should come with a warning label.

please listen to the video while watching the slideshow.
