Archives for posts with tag: lightning

my night last night was filled with the most bizarre lightning i’ve ever seen – horizontal red bolts that looked like something from a star trek episode (yes i love star trek, thank you very much) and so close you could feel the electricity filling the atmosphere. scary in a majestic way, gorgeous from a safe distance.

ironically, my day today also involved light – i was helping a friend of mine (who is a floral artist) hang strands of lights criss-crossed above a large ballroom, intertwining with a chandelier in the middle, for a wedding. it was oddly heavy, it was complicated, at times it was unsafe. some bulbs were burnt out and had to be replaced. some of them shattered if we accidentally bumped them. all we had to hang it with was double-sided tape, a lot of it. basically, it was a pain in the ass. and i’m sure the bride & guests loved it.

what you have is what you believe
so go ‘head & grieve
the loss of your dreams
by your own heart deceives
that which your own mouth decrees

when lightning split the trees
and she was down on her knees
begging you please
begging you please

you question and hold it up under
a starry blue-print shy of wonder
asking some rice for advice to ponder
till your pen claps with thunder
and it’s sawn asunder

when lightning split the trees
and she was down on her knees
begging you please
begging you please

don’t judge it before it’s too late
here’s one sock, where’s its mate
anger & fear turn to V8
till your eyes can’t see straight
and you attempt to sedate
cause those expectations berate

like a train hauling freight
what will you do with the weight
how do you know if it’s fate
if his trick is your trait
build a pond & ice skate

when snow fell on the trees
and he was down on his knees
begging you please
begging you please

both the lightning last night and the lighting i put up today were beautiful, depending on your perspective.

it might have been the mountain calling
but we just had to drive
i get restless in the night
and i love to hide
so come find me baby
but you’ll have to try

yeah i go up real high
to watch the bombs explode
and yeah i tempt the lightning to strike
strong winds, rain & hail
my favorite hike
i’ll leave you in a minute
and i love to hide
so come find me baby
but you’ll have to try

what is nice
isn’t always what is real
not everything that bites
are somethings you can feel

make a little list and pack for it
keep you safe from the spark
life & inspiration will wait
at the top in the dark

there may have been a canyon
maybe your expectations are there
and if you yell loud enough
the rest of you will hear
see i just get a little restless
and i love to drive
so come & find me baby
but you’ll have to try

you’ll receive what you need
when you ask indeed
you’ll write what they read
when your delusion is freed

until then you’re just circling
below every mountain peak
counting to infinity
hide & seek

keep on climbing
scrape your knees and your hands
duck for the rockslides
follow the granite bands
i’ll tug on the rope a little
that i’ve thrown as a guide
so come find me baby
but you’ll have to try

the choppy waves beckoned the skies at war that have become today. even as i write, i feel the shifting awareness around me and inside of me.

skimming through the frothiness that bleeds on the shoreline, tumbling the tiny homes of creatures that have become more than observers of the cycle; now intricate pieces of it.

so the wind picks us up, but cannot displace us.

startled by sudden movements, loud sounds, agressive mannerisms on reality tv; i close my eyes in the shower and shudder, waiting for the bathroom door to fly open. that’s why i lock it. but i didn’t last night.

and when the tears fall and she says she feels at home, i look inside myself and wonder how long it took for alone to feel so much like that.

but if i drink all those tears and return them to you…as the heavens open & the rain pours down…i wonder what will grow up there, back on my mountain.

so i look past the whitecaps, to the beyond where there are no ships. where the smell of yesterday lingers, fighting the aromas of tomorrow.

overhead, thunder & lightning bellow.

and a rainbow becomes us.
